日本はグループE内において２勝４敗し、本戦から脱落しました。これ以降はネーションズ・カップ（予選敗退国によるトーナメント）に参加することになります。

In the first day of 1st round matches in Group E, Japan won its two must-win matches against the lower ranked teams from Israel and Lithuania, but lost against higher ranked teams of Switzerland and Luxembourg. To have a chance at qualifying for the 2nd round, one more win against Senegal A or Tahiti is now needed.
グループＥの予選初日はどうしても勝たなければならないランク下のイスラエルとリトアニアに勝ち２勝を挙げましたが、ランク上のスイスとルクセンブルグに苦杯をきしました。第２ラウンドに進出するには、セネガルAかタヒチ相手に、もう一つ勝ち星が必要な状態です。

Championnat du Monde de Tir

Japan’s Yasuteru Oe shot 19 points in the qualification round of the shooting competition, thus failing to go to the next round. 43 points were necessary to qualify directly for the finals, and 33 points for the next round. Click here for all results.
日本代表の大江選手がシューティング競技の予選を行い、19点で次のラウンドへの進出を逃しました。飛び級で決勝トーナメントに進出するには43点以上が必要で、そうでなければ33点以上で予選の次のラウンドに進出する事ができる仕組みです。

Assuming from the group draw, it looks likely that again the FIPJP has abandoned the scheduled “Swiss System” and is applying the old system. Although there is no official confirmation yet, the official event website does not show the “Swiss System” announcement anymore.
予選のグループ分けを見ると、FIPJPは予定されていた”スイスシステム”の導入を行わず、過去に採用されていたシステムを採用したようです。正式筋からの確認は未だ取れておりませんが、オフィシャル・ホームページでは“スイスシステム”と言う記載が無くなっております。

Terrain Condition

A recently finished terrain on a (soft ?) earth-sand layer with large gravel on top. The high lob for pointing and the exact direct hit for shooting are a must.
完成したばかりのテランは砂と土(柔らかそう？)の上に、大きめの砂利が巻かれています。高い軌道のポワンテと、直接当てるティールが必要となるでしょう。

Venue

The open-air World Petanque Championship venue in Dakar, Senegal. Although the regulations say that the World Championship terrain must be covered by a roof, I guess that is superfluous in a region with zero percent chance of rain at this time of the year. However, it will be seen how the players are going to handle the bright sunlight during daytime games.
セネガル国、ダカールで開催されている世界選手権は屋根のないオープンな会場です。世界選手権に採用されるテランには屋根がある事が義務付けられておりますが、この時期の降水確率0%の地域なので、問題視されなかったと想像してます。しかしながら、日中のまぶしい太陽の下でのゲームが選手達にどのような影響を及ぼすのかは、様子を見てみないと分りませんね。

Interesting development of the Japanese team formation continues. Inoue-san moved from coach to the position of 4th player and a new coach was added to the team. Since Inoue-san has not competed in the selection tournament, his position as 4th player is highly questionable. But at least somebody has finally sent in a few photographs.

日本選手団の新たな興味深い変更がありました。井上さんが監督のポジションから、４人目のプレーヤーとして変更となり、新たに監督が加えられました。井上さんは、派遣選手選考トーナメントに参加されておりませんでしたので、なぜ４人目の選手となるのか疑問です。それでもやっと写真の幾つかは用意されたようですね。

Less than two weeks away from the start of the 2008 World Petanque Championships the official event web site still lacks to show a clear team formation of the Japanese team to compete in Dakar.

Obviously, the lacking photographs of the Japanese team is most visible. Furthermore, compared to other nations, Japan is one among the very few to compete with only three players. Why this is so, is up to be questioned. However, these are not the only shortcomings: The delegation member names are also changing quite frequently.
Until a few days ago the head of delegation and coach position has seen several changes: The first entry was Makihara-san as head, with three players and a coach.

Later this line up was adjusted to: Inoue-san as head, with three players and a coach.

And as of today it was again adjusted to: Makihara-san as head, with three players and Inoue-san as coach.

Obviously, the JPBU is continuously changing its members of the team dispatched for this year’s world championship. Again, the reason behind this totally lacks explanation from the the people in charge. Please make up your mind, gentlemen!

セネガル国ダカールでの2008年ペタンク世界選手権まで２週間を切ったにも関わらず、オフィシャルなホームページにおける日本チームの構成が明記されておりません。
先ず明確なのは、日本チームの写真が掲載されていない事です。更には、他の国が４人構成の所、日本は３人構成のチームで挑む少ない国の一つです。どの様な経緯でこうなったのかは、今後の審議に委ねましょう。しかしながら、これだけではありません：代表団のメンバーが頻繁に変更されております。
数日前まで、代表団は牧原代表の下、３名の選手と、監督となっておりました。これが後に変更となり：井上代表の下、３名の選手と監督となりました。そして本日になって牧原代表の下、３名の選手と井上監督と言う構成にまたしても、変更となりました。　
JPBUが選手団の構成を何度も変更しているのでしょう。繰り返しになりますが、なぜこのような事態となっているのかが、誰からも説明されておりません。できるだけ早く決定しましょうよ！
